Hello, from
Doug & Kim
Our journey to becoming the new owners of Alaska Trophy Fishing Safaris is one fueled by passion, adventure, and a deep commitment to the outdoors. Doug, originally from Minnesota, grew up with a love for the water, always grabbing his fishing pole to cast in the lake across the street or in lakes across the state and Canada. His lifelong love for fishing, paired with three decades of entrepreneurial experience running successful businesses and a dedication to delivering exceptional customer service, laid the perfect foundation for this venture.
Kim, who has spent years enjoying all that Delaware and the East Coast has to offer, brings with her a 20-year career marked by success in business and providing unmatched client service. She has combined this experience with a lifelong love for the outdoors, constantly seeking new and exciting adventures.
Our paths crossed nearly 20 years ago, and today, we are partners in both business and life. As we take the reins of Alaska Trophy Fishing Safaris, we’re proud to honor the legacy of Melissa and John Carlin, the camp’s previous owners. Since 1973, this family-owned and operated camp has provided guests with unforgettable experiences in the heart of the Alaskan wilderness. Our goal is to maintain the camp’s rich traditions while offering world-class fishing adventures in one of the most remote and awe-inspiring places on Earth.
Now, as a family of six—Mason (1999), Mya (2001), Luke (2023), and Beau (2025)—along with our exceptional staff, we are excited to continue sharing our love for the outdoors, the camp, and everything that makes Alaska extraordinary. We’re honored to carry on this legacy and create lasting memories for generations to come.
For us, this isn’t just a business—it’s a way of life.
We can’t wait to welcome you and share the raw beauty, adventure, and camaraderie of the Alaskan bush, offering each guest an experience that is truly one-of-a-kind.
Our Adventure With You Awaits,
Doug & Kim
A Note From our Previous Owners,
John & Melissa Carlin
It has truly been a labor of love for over 36 years. John has not been committed to anything, anyone, or any place more than he’s been committed to the Mulchatna River and Alaska Trophy Fishing Safaris. John is one of the rare and lucky ones – he has made more than a living doing what he loves. He has crafted a unique lifestyle for himself and our family. From the time he was a young fishing guide at 18 years old, he has shared his love and knowledge of the outdoors with those who appreciate it. The number of guests who have become friends have been countless over the years. It’s his unique connection to people that keep guests coming back – some over 30 years. Moreover, it’s been our incredible family of guides and hospitality team that we take pride in. You won’t find a team with a better attitude, work ethic, talent, and most importantly, heart. It has been a privilege to work together as a family – something we will treasure forever. We are excited for the new generation to continue the legacies of the original ATFS owner, Dennis Harms, and the Carlin family. John and Doug Mostrom are childhood friends and we can’t think of a better suited and trusted successor to ATFS. We are more than confident that Doug & Kim Mostrom will take ATFS to another level and deliver the same, if not better, quality of an Alaskan fishing adventure. We look forward to seeing old friends and new faces on the river….book today for an experience of a lifetime!John & Melissa
